Sevier County offers offender searches via the Arkansas Division of Corrections website. To use this option, you can follow these simple instructions.

  1. Visit the Arkansas State Division of correction WebsiteThis page has a section part that has different tabs for different services.
  2. Scroll down the page to the section’s area.
  3. From the section’s area, find the inmate search tab. Tap on the tab, which will lead you to the inmate search page, where you can enter the inmate details.
  4. Remember to select the Sevier County option on the search page.
  5. Enter the inmate’s relevant details. Accept the disclaimer and tap the search button. That will display the Sevier County inmate roster.

About Sevier County Jail

The primary role of Sevier County jail is to house offenders awaiting trial or those convicted and sent to prison to serve their jail term. The population of the prison fluctuates daily but is typically around 700 inmates.

There are three types of housing units in the jail:

  • The General population: The general population comprises people not yet sentenced or those sentenced to less than a year.
  • Special needs: The special needs housing unit is for people with medical or mental health conditions that require additional care.
  • Segregation: The segregation housing unit is for people sentenced to more than a year or those placed in segregation for disciplinary reasons.

The inmates in the jail are fed three meals a day and have access to showers, laundry facilities, and phones. The prison also offers GED classes, anger management, and substance abuse counseling.

The jail staff comprises of

  • Sheriff’s deputies: The deputies oversee and ensure the inmates are safe.
  • Correctional officers: The correctional officers are responsible for the facility’s day-to-day operations.
  • Support staff: The support staff includes cooks, clerical workers, and maintenance personnel.

About Other Jails in the County

Sevier County comprises two jail facilities:

  • The Sevier County Jail.
  • The De Queen City Detention Center.

The De Queen City Detention Center is the newer of the two facilities. It is a state-of-the-art, 96-bed detention center that houses both male and female inmates. It mainly acts as the holding detention for the De Queen Police Department.

The facility also serves the De Queen court. It temporarily detains inmates as they wait for their court appearance. The jail has four cells where male and female inmates are separated.

Inmates are temporarily held at the De Queen City Detention Center for 80 hours, after which they are transferred to Sevier County Jail.

The Sevier Sheriff runs the Detention Center. The staff includes an administrator, sergeants, correctional officers, medical staff, and kitchen personnel.

The mission of the De Queen City Detention Center is to provide a safe and secure environment for those incarcerated while ensuring the safety of staff and the community.

The De Queen City Detention Center works to give inmates a chance to improve themselves by offering educational and drug abuse treatment programs. The American Correctional Association also accredits it.

About Sevier County Sheriff’s Office and Police in the County

The Sevier County Sheriff serves the citizens of Sevier County, Arkansas, as a full-service law enforcement agency. The office is responsible for the following:

  • The enforcement of state and local laws.
  • Investigation of crimes.
  • Provision of security for the county courthouse and other county buildings
  • Operation of the county jail and provision of search and rescue services.

The Sheriff’s Office is led by Sheriff Robert Gentry, who was elected to office in 2016. The agency employs approximately 30 sworn deputies and ten civilian staff members.

About Sevier County, AR

Sevier County has a population of around 15,000 per the 2021 figures and is located in the west-central part of Arkansas. The county seat is De Queen.

The area now known as Sevier County was first settled by the Caddo Indians, who the Choctaw displaced in the early 1800s. The county was formed in 1828 and given its name in honor of Ambrose Sevier, an Arkansas senator.

Timber, beef cattle, and poultry are the primary agricultural products in the county’s economy. Tourism is also an essential part of the economy, with the De Queen Lake and the Queen Wilhelmina State Park being two of the most popular destinations.
