Montgomery County Jails and Prisons
Montgomery County Jail is the primary correctional facility in the county. The facility is a minimum-security correctional facility located at 105 Highway 270 East, PO Box 727, Mt. Ida, AR, 71957.
The jail is under the leadership of the County Sheriff and houses adult and juvenile inmates awaiting trial, sentencing or incarcerated, and serving their jail term. Those incarcerated are under different crime levels and are usually sentenced to less than one year.
The jail has a bed capacity of 172 inmates with an average of 3 bookings per day and 1160 per year. Under the sheriff’s leadership, Montgomery County jail has several programs to empower inmates with skills. Such programs include computer education, general educational development test, and financial management. They also undergo anger management and substance abuse to ensure they rerun back to the community transformed and accountable.
The county allows friends and relatives to visit inmates Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. However, walk-ins are not allowed, and visitors must schedule them 24 hours before the visit. Inmates are also allowed one free video visit per week.
