Jackson County Jail  

Jackson County Jail is a medium security facility that houses up to 30 pre-trial and sentenced inmates. The Jackson County Jail is located in Newport, Arkansas. The facility was built in 1930 and currently employs 100 staff members.

The Jackson County Jail offers reintegration programming to male inmates. Inmates at the Jackson County Jail are allowed to work in the commissary, laundry, maintenance, and kitchen departments to learn new skills and give back to the community.

On weekdays, you can see an inmate from 7:30 am to 9:00 pm, and on weekends, from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm. You may only see a prisoner if your name is on their visiting list, which they create after they are booked and processed at the Chicot County Jail. Please be informed that the visitation sign-up will close 30 minutes before the planned end.

The good news is that the Jackson County Jail also offers onsite video visits for inmates so that you can schedule a visit anytime between 8:15 am to 4 pm, From Tuesday to Sunday. Each inmate is allowed two 45-minute visits per week. These visits must be scheduled in advance.

  2. McPherson Unit is an Arkansas Department of Corrections women’s jail situated near Newport, Arkansas, along Arkansas Highway 384, 4 miles east of downtown Newport. The prison, opened in 1998, contains the state’s execution row for women. The unit houses the Riverside Vocational Technical School’s campus.
