Using the Hempstead County Inmate Roster

The first thing that you will want to do is go through the county jail roster. You’ll have a good idea of who is incarcerated there and any details regarding their charges or convictions. You can also look at the inmate roster for that particular facility or your local Sheriff’s office. The records include names, ages, mugshots, and criminal charges.

Arrests

Arrests by the police and the sheriff and his deputies are usually recorded at the various facilities where suspects are booked. You may visit the facility where you think they were booked and ask to go through the arrest records. However, you will need authorization to do so.

Hempstead County, AR Jail and Other Prisons/Jails

Hempstead County Detention Center, the main jail in the county, serves as the county’s main detention facility. Captain Johnny Godbolt, the jail administrator, is in charge and oversees the over 100-bed Hempstead County Jail and Detention Center. He has Lieutenant James Wise as the second in command.

It is a maximum security facility housing inmates convicted of violent crimes and felonies. Inmates are housed in dormitories or single cells, depending on the length of their sentences. The facility also houses inmates awaiting trial for longer than a year. The facility also has a separate unit for female inmates.

Rules and Regulations for Visitors

They include:

  • Visitors are expected to keep the premises clean at all times.
  • They should not bring any food or drink into the premises.
  • Visitors are prohibited from smoking inside the building or in any other area of the premises.
  • Visitors should not leave litter on the premises or do any vandalism.
  • All visitors must present an ID card upon entering prison grounds; visitors should carry their ID cards at all times while inside the prison.
  • Visiting days are not fixed but can be changed depending on the number of male inmates awaiting trial.

Programs at the Facility

The facility offers programs for those inmates willing to participate. Below are examples:

Education

The facility offers education classes for inmates who could not finish their studies. The classes cover English, math, science, health and hygiene, and art. The program includes up to six hours of weekly instruction, and the inmates will get their GED certificate at the end.

Employment and Training

The jail offers employment and training programs for inmates who want an education after release. The program offers a variety of job placement services, such as help with resume writing and classes for interview preparation. Inmates also receive work release privileges to work while incarcerated at the facility. Today, the program has placed more than 150 inmates in jobs after participating.

Gangs/Drugs/Violence Prevention

The jail also offers gang prevention programs for inmates who want to learn how gangs operate in society so they do not join one upon release. This program is designed for those who have already been involved with gangs but want to change their ways before returning to society again.
