Calhoun County Detention Center
It is Calhoun’s county jail. It is located at 449 9th Street, P.O. Box 1174, Hampton, Ar, 71744.
The center is run and operated by the Calhoun County Sheriff’office. It is under the Calhoun Detention center administrator. It serves as the biggest jail in the county and can hold inmates for more than 72 hours.
The detention center mainly serves inmates awaiting trial or transfer to other facilities and inmates with sentences not exceeding three years. Trustee detainees can work at the facility for a fee or a reduced sentence. The inmates are involved in the kitchen and laundry departments. On average, the center utilizes fifty inmates in these roles every year.
It is a minimal security jail, mainly hosting male detainees. Under normal circumstances, the jail maintains a population of thirty inmates daily. It has a turnover of about six hundred inmates annually.
The jail program assistant handles the day-to-day running of the jail. Other staff includes three line staff supervisors and eighteen correctional officers.
