Message from the Sheriff

Welcome to the Garland County Sheriff’s Office web site. Your interest in our department is most appreciated. As you visit our site we encourage you to provide us with any comments and or suggestions. This will allow us the opportunity to exchange information with you.  

First, let me say it is my genuine privilege to serve you as the 27th Sheriff of Garland County. I am exceptionally proud of the deputies and support staff who make our Sheriff’s Office one of the most professional departments in the state. Their hard work, initiative and dedication to the citizens of Garland County should not go unmentioned.  

Our mission is to protect and enhance the quality of life in our community by enforcing the law, preserving the peace, preventing crime, and providing educational information while still protecting the constitutional rights of those we serve.   

Your Sheriff’s Office is a full service department with approximately 122 employees. We operate and maintain two separate detention facilities, patrol the county roadways and area lakes, investigate crimes and provide court security.   

The department has a 15 member Tactical Response Team, 11 of which are certified open water divers, and a 4 member Crisis Negotiations Team. The department also has a Mounted Patrol with approximately 20 members who volunteer their time, horses and equipment for events such as the county fair, parades and searching for missing persons.  

The Sheriff’s Office actively promotes programs aimed at crime prevention, drug education, senior citizens safety and other related activities which encourage a positive impact on the community.
