Sheriff Sanders Bio

Larry Sanders has served as Garland County Sheriff since January of 2005.

Prior to being elected, Sheriff Sanders served as a Sheriff’s Deputy with Garland County Sheriff’s Office for twenty-one (21) years. Sheriff Sanders started as a detention officer in the jail, transferred to dispatch, then to patrol and then advanced to criminal investigations.  Sheriff Sanders was assigned to the local drug task force when it began in 1990.  While in Criminal Investigations he was deputized as a United States Deputy Marshal and on three separate occasions was assigned to Federal Organized Crime Drug Task Forces. Sheriff Sanders worked his way up to the rank of Captain in the Criminal Investigations Division prior to being elected Sheriff.

Sheriff Sanders is a graduate of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy and
obtained his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Garland County Community College.

Sheriff Sanders was nominated and selected to attend the FBI  National Academy in Quantico, Virginia and graduated from there in 1996.  The FBI Academy is considered  the most prestigious law enforcement school available. Less that one-percent of law enforcement officers in the United Stated are selected to participate in this esteemed program.

Larry and his wife Tina have two daughters ages 22 and 16.
